Sawing
Floor Sawing:
Electrical 3-phase supply needed to floor saw down below 200mm depth using a motorised floor saw.
Can cut out floor channels for drainage, lift shafts, stairways, and commercial structural openings.
Usually this process includes cored holes where the slab is cut into manageable segments (around 400mm x 400mm x depth of slab) for removal of the concrete.

Ring sawing:
Hand-held specialist cutting tool with close-to-wall capability. Hydraulic, 3-phase or fuel operational.
Forms door openings or window openings. Can also be used for drainage channels within the floor slab or structural openings / revisions.
When the floor or wall slab is cut through the full depth of the slab, the concrete segments can be removed in manageable (small) segments, and then removed from site.

Wire Sawing:
Used mainly for door and window openings within an existing structure, the wire saw is inserted between diamond cored holes to cut the concrete.
It may also be used for cutting along slab lengths to remove floor slabs.
Obviously, the wire saw is used to control the size of the concrete segments to enable the concrete removal to be managed.
Large segments of concrete need to be manageable by the operators, and then removed from the work site.

Track Sawing:
Track saws tracks are fixed to the concrete structure and the saw blade is then attached to the tracks.
The track saw is then remotely controlled by the operator which contributes to site safety.
Several passes by the track saw blade are used at deeper cuts to the desired depth before the concrete segments are removed.

Floor and Wall Channelling for Utility Services:
Hand saws and ring saws are utilised to track the channel cuts to the correct depth and correct width with a vacuum attached to the hand saw to minimise dust.
Usually, cross-cuts are also made at the same depth to enable the concrete breaker to break out the concrete in blocks,
after which the breaker chisel is used to ensure the channel conforms to the correct depth and width.

Breaking out floor slabs for stairways, elevators, etc:
Dependent upon the area of the slab removal, diamond drilling is usually used to open several core holes at manageable segment sizes.
The track saw, ring saw or floor saw is then used to join up the cored holes to enable the slab segment removal.
A crash deck under the cut-out is required to protect any people being harmed by the falling concrete, and also to protect the existing floor slab below.

External Diesel Sawing (avoiding fumigation inside buildings):
Diesel saws are not to be used inside buildings where people breathe in the diesel engine fumes. The diesel saw is usually utilised externally to ensure avoidance of fumigation.
Usually, diesel saws are used where no electrical power is available.

Asphalt sawing on roadways, pavements, etc:
Asphalt sawing and coring is available for highways, roadway repairs, footpath repairs, kerb lowering, parking areas and pavement areas.
The floor saw will be utilised to minimise the cutting period and to minimise transportation delays.
Cores may also be used to analyse the asphalt thickness, compaction and binder content to ensure the installation meets design and specifications.
